About onsombul
What is onsombul?
onsombul is a private, all-in-one platform for amateur and student drama and musical societies to plan, organise and run their productions - cast & crew, the schedule, the running order, rehearsal media and your members’ parts, all in one place and organised by show.
Who is it for?
Societies running their own productions: committees, directors, musical directors, stage and technical teams, and the cast and crew themselves. It’s built around how real societies actually work.
Is onsombul public?
No. It’s a closed, members-only tool. Nothing is shared publicly unless you deliberately choose to share a specific item, and access is invite-only through your society.
Accounts & access
How do I get an account?
Accounts are invite-only through a society. A society admin invites you by email; you’ll get a link to set up your account and join. If your society isn’t on onsombul yet, point your committee at our enquiry page.
What are the different roles?
Members can see what they’re in and respond to availability. Contributors can additionally add content in the areas they’re given access to. Society and production admins manage the show, people and settings.
I’ve forgotten my password.
Use the “Forgotten your password?” link on the log-in page. We’ll email you a secure link to set a new one (it expires after an hour).
Privacy & your content
Is my society’s content private?
Yes. onsombul is members-only by design. Your society manages the materials it adds, and nothing is visible outside your society unless you explicitly choose to share it.
Who is responsible for licensing and rights?
Your society is. onsombul is a private organisational tool for societies running their own licensed productions; you remain responsible for holding the necessary rights and licences for any material you add.
How is my personal data handled?
See our privacy policy for the full detail on what we store and why.
Using onsombul
How does scheduling and availability work?
Members set the dates they’re unavailable; admins build a shared schedule of calls and sessions, and onsombul flags who’s away as they plan - so clashes are caught before they happen.
What are “Tracks”?
The Tracks area keeps your rehearsal audio organised by song and part, plus acting/line-learning aids and a sound-effects board - a private rehearsal aid for your own company.
Can people without an account be included?
Yes - cast and crew can be added by name before they have an account, so the running order, schedule and attendance work from day one.
Getting started & cost
How do we get our society onto onsombul?
Send us an enquiry from the society signup page. We read and respond to every genuine enquiry, though as a small team we may not be able to bring everyone on board straight away.
How much does it cost?
onsombul is free to use while we develop it with the societies trying it out.
